

If you don’t want spoken content highlighted, choose None from the Highlight Content pop-up menu. Click the Word Colour and Sentence Colour pop-up menus to choose the highlight colour. Highlight Content: Click the pop-up menu, then choose to have words, sentences or both highlighted as your Mac speaks. For example, press the Option and Tab keys together to set the keyboard shortcut as Option+Tab. Keyboard Shortcut: Press the key combination you want to use. The orientation commands VO-F4-F4 and VO-F5-F5-F5 can be useful in determining the insertion point’s location in a document. To hear the first line of text in a document, press VO-Down Arrow.

If you press the Down Arrow key at the first line of a document, VoiceOver won’t read the line because the insertion point has moved to the next line. When you use the Down Arrow key to move from one line of text to the next, VoiceOver speaks the line where the insertion point is located.
